Custom domain

Settings → Domain tab.

  • Entirely Pro-gated — Free sees only a locked teaser and an upgrade link; no way to enter a domain without Pro. If Pro later lapses on a store with a domain already connected, the domain stays active but can't be changed or replaced until Pro is reactivated.
  • Adding one (Pro): enter a subdomain (e.g. shop.yourbrand.com) — must have at least three parts (a bare root domain is rejected), be validly formatted, not already reserved, and not end in .wastore.app or .vercel.app. One custom domain per store.
  • You must already own the domain — WAStore doesn't sell or register domains; buy one first at a registrar (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare…).
  • Set up DNS before adding. As soon as a valid subdomain is typed, the form shows the exact DNS record to create at your domain provider: a CNAME record from your chosen subdomain to cname.vercel-dns.com (one-click copy for both Name and Value). A checklist covers the common mistakes: enter only the subdomain part as the Name (e.g. shop, not shop.yourbrand.com — providers append the domain), copy the Value exactly, add a new record without touching the main website's existing records, and keep it "DNS only"/unproxied on Cloudflare.
  • Where the DNS settings are at common providers (menu names change from time to time, so say "look for" rather than promising exact clicks; if the owner writes a provider name with a typo, e.g. "inos" for IONOS, assume the obvious one): IONOS — Domains & SSL → the domain → DNS → Add record → CNAME. OVHcloud — Web Cloud → Domain names → the domain → DNS zone → Add an entry → CNAME. GoDaddy — My Products → Domains → the domain → DNS → Add New Record → CNAME. Namecheap — Domain List → Manage → Advanced DNS → Add New Record → CNAME Record. Hostinger — Domains → the domain → DNS / Nameservers → CNAME. Cloudflare — the domain → DNS → Records → Add record → CNAME, proxy switched off (grey cloud). If the domain's DNS is managed somewhere else (e.g. the nameservers point to a web host), the record goes where the DNS is managed. In every case: Type CNAME, Name = just the subdomain (e.g. shop or www), Value / Target = cname.vercel-dns.com. If an old www record already exists, it has to be edited or replaced, since one name can't have two CNAMEs.
  • Add domain stays disabled until you tick "I own this domain and have added the DNS record above". On submit the record is looked up live; if it's missing, proxied by Cloudflare, or pointing elsewhere, the domain is not saved and the message says what to fix (new records can take a few minutes to appear — just try again).
  • Once saved, status is Pending and the same DNS record stays visible. Usually activates within a day.
  • Check my DNS button looks the record up live and says whether it's correct, not found yet (wait a few minutes after adding), proxied by Cloudflare (switch to grey cloud), or pointing somewhere else (shows where, and what to change it to).
  • Status badge: Pending (verifying), Live (active, clickable link shown), or Problem (verification failed, with the specific error).
  • Remove clears the domain; the store stays reachable at its wastore.app address.
  • Only the subdomain you connected (e.g. www.yourbrand.com) points to WAStore. The bare root domain (yourbrand.com) stays with your domain provider. To send visitors from the root domain to your store, set up a redirect from yourbrand.com to www.yourbrand.com in your domain provider's panel (most registrars and hosts offer "domain redirect" / "forwarding"). WAStore can't do this for you.
