Organizing products with categories

How to add one: sidebar Products → Categories → type the name in the "Add category" box at the top → click Add category (or press Enter). How to put products in it: open a product (Products → click it → Edit) and pick the category in the Category dropdown, then save. A product's Category dropdown is empty until at least one category exists. The box shows how many of the plan's categories are used (e.g. "5 of 5 used"); at the limit, Add category opens the upgrade instead of creating one — rename or delete a category, or upgrade, to make room.

  • Just a name — no image, description, or nesting; categories are a single flat list.
  • Duplicate names are blocked. Each category is an expandable card showing a live product count and (expanded) the actual products inside, with a "Hidden" tag for any that aren't visible on the storefront.
  • Rename inline (Enter to save). Delete asks for confirmation and states how many products will become "Uncategorized" — deleting a category never deletes its products, only unassigns them.
  • An always-visible "Uncategorized" section lists every product without a category.
  • No manual reordering of categories, no per-category image/icon, and no way to hide a whole category — only individual products can be hidden. To move a product between categories, edit that product on the Products page.
  • Category discount (Pro to set — see Free vs Pro): the % button on a category card opens "Discount on every product in this category" — type a whole number from 1 to 90 and Save. Every product in that category (and each variant with its own price) is then sold at that % off on the storefront, product pages, cart, checkout, WhatsApp order message, Stripe card payments, the Meta catalog feed and the order record. The original price shows crossed out (if the product already had a higher "previous" price, that one stays crossed out instead). The card shows a "−20%" chip, and the products listed inside show old → new price. Remove discount puts prices back. It's one % per category, with no start/end date (remove it when the sale ends), and it stacks with coupons (the coupon applies to the already-discounted subtotal). Products themselves are not edited — the discount is applied on top of the saved price. On Free, the % button opens the upgrade prompt; a discount set during Pro stays live and editable after a downgrade. Carts a shopper filled before the change keep the price they were added at.
  • Limits — Free 5, Pro 20, WAStore Max unlimited, for stores created on or after 2 October 2026; older stores keep unlimited categories on every plan. A CSV import into a capped store stops creating new categories at the cap (those rows import uncategorized).
