Real shops in Kenya built with WAStore
Open one to see what a catalog with a cart looks like. They are independent shops: WAStore doesn’t sell their products.
Get paid with what your customers already use
WAStore doesn’t process payments or take a percentage. You add your methods in Settings → Payment, and customers see them when they order.
M-Pesa (Till, Paybill or Pochi la Biashara)
Choose the “M-Pesa” type and enter your Till number, Paybill and account, or phone number. Customers see it at checkout and pay from their phone.
Airtel Money
Add a “Mobile Money” method named Airtel Money with your number.
Bank transfer
Add “Bank transfer” with your bank, branch and account number; customers copy it at checkout and send you the receipt on WhatsApp.
Pay on delivery
Turn on “Cash on delivery”: nothing to set up, and the customer pays when the order arrives.
How it works
- 1
Create your store
Enter a name, your WhatsApp number and your currency (KES). Add products with a photo and price, or import them from a CSV or Google Sheet.
- 2
Add how you get paid
Add M-Pesa and Airtel Money, plus any other method you use. They show at checkout with your details and, if you like, your QR code.
- 3
Share the link
Put it in your WhatsApp status, Instagram bio or TikTok. Every order lands in your dashboard and in your WhatsApp, ready to fulfil.
Selling on WhatsApp in Kenya
In Kenya nearly every WhatsApp sale ends with “Lipa na M-Pesa”. WAStore puts your catalog with prices in shillings in one link: the customer fills a cart, the full order arrives in your WhatsApp, and they pay to your Till or Paybill.
Set one delivery fee inside Nairobi and another for upcountry parcels, or offer pickup at a CBD point. Clothing and mitumba, shoes, cosmetics, electronics and cakes all sell this way.

Delivery, registration and payments in Kenya
Delivery and couriers
In Nairobi most sellers use boda boda riders or delivery services for around KSh 200–500 depending on distance, or a pickup point in town. Upcountry parcels go through shuttle and bus parcel services, G4S, Fargo Courier or Posta, usually KSh 300–600. Many sellers ask for payment before dispatch for anything outside Nairobi.
Registration and tax
A business name is registered through the Business Registration Service on eCitizen, and you need a KRA PIN. Your county issues a single business permit, and small businesses pay turnover tax on gross sales in place of income tax (check KRA’s current rate and band).
How customers pay
M-Pesa is used for nearly every sale: a Till number (Buy Goods), a Paybill with an account number, or Pochi la Biashara for small sellers using their own line. Airtel Money and bank transfers are used less, and pay on delivery is common within Nairobi.

WAStore vs other options in Kenya
Most WhatsApp store tools no longer take a commission. What differs is how many products you get for free, whether orders are capped, and whether customers see your local payment methods (M-Pesa and Airtel Money) when they order.
| Platform | Free plan | Orders | Commission | Paid plan |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| WAStore | 50 products, forever | Unlimited | 0% | Pro: $7.90/month (up to 200 products) |

| Shopify | None (free trial only) | Unlimited | Card fees; extra fee on Starter or with outside gateways | Starter $5/month; Basic $39/month |
| WhatsApp Business catalog | Free, inside the app | In the chat only | 0% | — (no cart or web store) |

Frequently asked questions
Should I use a Till number or Pochi la Biashara?
Pochi la Biashara is the quickest start and uses your own number. A Till number looks more professional and keeps business money separate. WAStore works with either: enter it on your M-Pesa method.
Can I charge a different delivery fee in Nairobi and for upcountry orders?
Yes, on Pro: create one delivery zone in Nairobi and another for upcountry orders, each with its own fee (or “to be confirmed”). The free plan has one flat delivery fee and free pickup.
Do I need a KRA PIN to sell online?
Yes, for business registration and tax. You also need a business permit from your county once you trade regularly.
Is WAStore free in Kenya?
Yes. The free plan doesn’t expire: up to 50 products, unlimited orders and no commission on sales. Pro is optional.
Can I get paid by M-Pesa and Airtel Money?
Yes. You add your payment methods in Settings → Payment and customers see them when they order. The money goes straight to you; WAStore never touches payments.
Does WAStore take a commission?
No, not on the free plan and not on Pro. Everything your customer pays is yours.
Do I need WhatsApp Business?
No. It works with regular WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business, and neither you nor your customers install anything.
Can I accept card payments?
Stripe doesn’t open accounts for sellers in Kenya yet, so built-in card checkout isn’t available. You can add a payment link from a local gateway as a “Payment link” method, and customers pay by card there.
