Real shops in South Africa built with WAStore
Open one to see what a catalog with a cart looks like. They are independent shops: WAStore doesn’t sell their products.
Get paid with what your customers already use
WAStore doesn’t process payments or take a percentage. You add your methods in Settings → Payment, and customers see them when they order.
EFT (FNB, Capitec, Standard Bank…)
Add “Bank transfer” with your bank, account number, branch code and account type; customers copy it at checkout and send you the receipt on WhatsApp.
SnapScan
Choose the “SnapScan” type and upload your SnapCode: customers scan it with the SnapScan app or their banking app.
PayShap
Add a method named PayShap with your ShapID (usually your cellphone number) for instant payments.
Yoco or PayFast link
Paste a Yoco or PayFast payment link as a “Payment link” method for customers who want to pay by card.
Cash on collection
Offer free pickup at checkout and take cash or a transfer when the customer collects.
How it works

Create your store
Enter a name, your WhatsApp number and your currency (ZAR). Add products with a photo and price, or import them from a CSV or Google Sheet.
- 2
Add how you get paid
Add EFT and SnapScan, plus any other method you use. They show at checkout with your details and, if you like, your QR code.
- 3
Share the link
Put it in your WhatsApp status, Instagram bio or TikTok. Every order lands in your dashboard and in your WhatsApp, ready to fulfil.
Selling on WhatsApp in South Africa
In South Africa a lot of small selling happens on WhatsApp and Instagram, paid by EFT with a proof of payment. WAStore gives you a catalog with prices in rand and a cart: the customer sends one complete order, pays by EFT, SnapScan or PayShap, and you mark it paid.
Set a fee for local delivery, another for courier or PAXI and Pargo parcels, and offer free collection. Bakers, clothing and sneaker resellers, hair and beauty, and braai and catering businesses all sell this way.
Shops in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and Pretoria, and across the country.
Delivery, registration and payments in South Africa
Delivery and couriers
The Courier Guy and aggregators like Bob Go cover door-to-door delivery, while PAXI (collect at PEP stores) and Pargo pickup points are the cheapest options, from about R60 for a small parcel. Local same-day delivery is often done with Uber Direct, a driver, or collection from home.
Registration and tax
You can trade as a sole proprietor under your own ID and declare the income to SARS, or register a company with CIPC online. VAT registration is compulsory once turnover passes R1 million in 12 months, and food businesses need a certificate of acceptability from the municipality.
How customers pay
EFT with a proof of payment (POP) is the most common way small sellers get paid, and PayShap now makes bank payments instant using a ShapID. SnapScan and Zapper are popular QR wallets, cards come through Yoco or PayFast links, and cash on collection is still normal for local orders.

- Pro: $7.90 a month (or $4.99 a month billed yearly) for your own domain, coupons, sale prices, delivery zones, analytics and more.
- Try Pro free for 7 days, no card needed.

Frequently asked questions
Can customers pay with PayShap?
Yes. Add a method named PayShap with your ShapID (usually your cellphone number) and bank. Customers pay instantly from their banking app.
Can I offer PAXI or Pargo delivery?
Yes. Set your PAXI or Pargo price as the delivery fee and confirm the customer’s preferred pickup point on WhatsApp when the order arrives.
Do I need to register for VAT?
Only once your taxable turnover passes R1 million in 12 months. Below that you can choose to register, but most small sellers don’t.
Is WAStore free in South Africa?
Yes. The free plan doesn’t expire: up to 50 products, unlimited orders and no commission on sales. Pro is optional.
Can I get paid by EFT and SnapScan?
Yes. You add your payment methods in Settings → Payment and customers see them when they order. The money goes straight to you; WAStore never touches payments.
Does WAStore take a commission?
No, not on the free plan and not on Pro. Everything your customer pays is yours.
Do I need WhatsApp Business?
No. It works with regular WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business, and neither you nor your customers install anything.
Can I accept card payments?
Stripe doesn’t open accounts for sellers in South Africa yet, so built-in card checkout isn’t available. You can add a payment link from a local gateway as a “Payment link” method, and customers pay by card there.
