Get paid with what your customers already use

WAStore doesn’t process payments or take a percentage. You add your methods in Settings → Payment, and customers see them when they order.

  • Bank transfer (BOC, Commercial Bank, Sampath…)

Add “Bank transfer” with your bank, branch, account number and name; customers copy it at checkout and send you the receipt on WhatsApp.

  • Cash on delivery

Turn on “Cash on delivery”: nothing to set up, and the customer pays when the order arrives.

  • LankaQR

Add a method named LankaQR and upload your QR: customers scan it from their banking app.

  • PayHere link

Paste a PayHere payment link as a “Payment link” method for customers who want to pay by card.

How it works

    Create your store

Enter a name, your WhatsApp number and your currency (LKR). Add products with a photo and price, or import them from a CSV or Google Sheet.

Add bank transfer and cash on delivery, plus any other method you use. They show at checkout with your details and, if you like, your QR code.

  3. 3

    Share the link

Put it in your WhatsApp status, Instagram bio or TikTok. Every order lands in your dashboard and in your WhatsApp, ready to fulfil.

Selling on WhatsApp in Sri Lanka

In Sri Lanka small online shops sell through Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, and most orders are paid by bank transfer (with a photo of the slip) or cash on delivery. WAStore gives you a catalog with prices in rupees and a cart, so each order arrives complete with name, phone, address and items.

You can set one delivery fee for Colombo and another for outstation orders, and offer pickup from your home or shop.

Shops in Colombo, Kandy, Galle and Negombo, and across the country.

Delivery, registration and payments in Sri Lanka

Delivery and couriers

Small shops ship island-wide with Domex, Prompt Xpress, Koombiyo, Pronto, Grasshoppers or Sri Lanka Post, most of which collect cash on delivery and pay it back to you. A parcel up to 1 kg usually costs around LKR 350–500 depending on the courier. In Colombo many sellers also use PickMe or Uber deliveries for same-day orders.

Registration and tax

A sole proprietorship is registered as a business name with your Divisional Secretariat, and you get a TIN from the Inland Revenue Department. VAT registration only applies above the annual turnover threshold, and food businesses need approval from the local health office.

How customers pay

Bank transfer with a photo of the slip and cash on delivery cover most orders. LankaQR lets customers pay from their banking app by scanning, and card payments come through gateways like PayHere using a payment link.

What it costs

  • Free forever: up to 50 products, unlimited orders and 0% commission.
  • Pro: $7.90 a month (or $4.99 a month billed yearly) for your own domain, coupons, sale prices, delivery zones, analytics and more.
  • Try Pro free for 7 days, no card needed.

WAStore vs other options in Sri Lanka

Most WhatsApp store tools no longer take a commission. What differs is how many products you get for free, whether orders are capped, and whether customers see your local payment methods (bank transfer and cash on delivery) when they order.

Frequently asked questions

Can I charge a different delivery fee in Colombo and for outstation orders?

Yes, on Pro: create one delivery zone in Colombo and another for outstation orders, each with its own fee (or “to be confirmed”). The free plan has one flat delivery fee and free pickup.

Can customers pay by scanning LankaQR?

Yes. Add a method named LankaQR and upload your QR image. Customers enlarge it at checkout and scan it from their banking app.

Do I need to register a business to sell online?

To sell regularly, a business name registration at your Divisional Secretariat is the simple route. WAStore works the same before and after.

Is WAStore free in Sri Lanka?

Yes. The free plan doesn’t expire: up to 50 products, unlimited orders and no commission on sales. Pro is optional.

Can I get paid by bank transfer and cash on delivery?

Yes. You add your payment methods in Settings → Payment and customers see them when they order. The money goes straight to you; WAStore never touches payments.

Does WAStore take a commission?

No, not on the free plan and not on Pro. Everything your customer pays is yours.

Do I need WhatsApp Business?

No. It works with regular WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business, and neither you nor your customers install anything.

Can I accept card payments?

Stripe doesn’t open accounts for sellers in Sri Lanka yet, so built-in card checkout isn’t available. You can add a payment link from a local gateway as a “Payment link” method, and customers pay by card there.
